Asia Tomeny, LPC
Asia is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those healing from family trauma, religious trauma, and sexual trauma. She works with clients across the lifespan—from children as young as five to adults in all seasons of life—and has a special passion for supporting those who’ve felt like outsiders in their families, faith communities, or broader culture. As a queer person and the daughter of a Chinese immigrant, Asia brings an intersectional lens and deep appreciation for the richness and complexity of identity work. She particularly enjoys working with artists, empaths, and deep thinkers navigating life transitions, creative blocks, and emotional pain.
Asia views therapy as a sacred space—a place where clients can exhale, feel fully seen, and begin to rewrite the stories they’ve carried. She believes meaningful change comes through safe, trusting relationships where clients no longer have to hide or carry their struggles alone. Clients describe her as warm, intuitive, thoughtful, and creative. Her sessions are collaborative and emotionally attuned, marked by authenticity, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience.
Asia’s clinical interests include healing shame, cultivating self-compassion, and supporting clients in reimagining their identities beyond survival. She is especially drawn to grief and loss work, family systems, faith deconstruction, and identity exploration. Her style is relational, trauma-informed, and person-centered, prioritizing strong therapeutic alliances while honoring each client’s needs and preferences.
Asia draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, and art therapy techniques. She often incorporates somatic practices, parts work, mindfulness, creative expression, and moments of quiet reflection. Depending on the client, her work can be highly structured or more fluid and exploratory—always grounded in trust, curiosity, and care.
Asia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Counseling and Human Services from Moody Bible Institute and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Moody Theological Seminary.
Outside of work...
Asia loves drawing and painting portraits of loved ones, camping and hiking, and lounging at home with her two cats. She finds joy in visiting unique restaurants with friends and family, exploring new creative projects, and savoring slow mornings.
